Anime for those on a budget:
Alright. So, you are a college student with not a whole lot of free
money? Or maybe a student with virtually no income? Or maybe you are
just someone who is a bit tight on cash! If you fit into any of those
catagories and you still need your anime fix, you have come to the
right place. Here I have some tips and suggestions on places to go, and
things to do to get your beloved anime and manga.
Tip
#1 - Buy Used
Used dvd's are a great thing. Usually they are on sale somehow,
someway, and start at about 50 - 60% of the normal sell price. Also,
places such as Suncoast, and EBGames generally carry only "healthy"
dvds. You know, no scratches, no smudges, etc. I can honestly say that
I have never bought an "unhealthy" or "bad" dvd from one of these fine
retail establishments.
Tip
#2a - Buy Online
This is another great way to save money. The dvds are new, packaged,
and are basically never the same price as in the store.
Tip
#2b - Ebay
We all know what Ebay is, so you should definatly know that anime of
ebay generally goes for dirt cheap. I mean DIRT CHEAP. I mean, you
thought regular websites were cheap? Ebay goes even LOWER.
Tip
#3 - Buy Anime on VHS
You remember those things that EVERYTHING came out on before DVD
Players were in every household? Yeah. Those things. VHSs are so cheap
now it's sickening. As long as you have a VCR then you are all set for
this. You can enjoy anime at the low low price of about 2 - 5 dollars a
tape if you shop online. Or on ebay. Or something to that effect.
Tip
#4 - Libraries
Libraries are a wonderful thing. Most libraries now carry at least a
little bit of anime/manga for your pleasure. Best of all, it's free.
How often can you have anime for over a week or so and not pay a dime
(unless you keep it that extra day to watch it again
