Grave of the
Fireflies
(PG)
Review:
This is a wonderfully
touching story about a family living in the
middle of World War II in Japan. There is the mother, the brother, and
the
sister. Their father is off on a ship in the war. A typical
family
for the most part, until the bombing. American planes set their
peaceful
town aflame, and unfortuanatly, the mother dies leaving her son to care
for
the child of the family. This is a heartwarming story about survival
sure
to make anyone cry. Alone in the world with nobody to love them, they
only
have each other...
Parent's Guide:
(Note:
The Guide is based out of 5. Do note that a 5 on the "PG" scale isn't
the
same as a 5 on the "PG-13" scale. It takes more then one catagory that
goes
over on one scale to be bumped to the next rating.)
Language: 3/5 - There is some mild language, but you can only really
tell
if your REALLY paying attention.
Characters: 5/5 - There are some pretty bad characters for something
that
I would give a PG rating too...A man beats up a small child, the
children
are malnourished by their own aunt, etc.
Plot: 6/5 - This is where things get bad. The plot throughout the whole
story
makes you wanr to burst into tears. This isn't a story for the weak of
heart,
this isn't a story for those seeking a happy ending...
