Vegeta   

In Dragon Ball Z, Vegita gets introduced very early on.He appears in episode 2 or 3 when comunicating with Raditz. He is the #1 foe in the Saijin Saga and is also one of the biggest enemies in the Namek saga.(Note: In America sagas aren't as strict as they are in Japan, whenever i refer to the Namek saga, in Japan or in other countries that means the Freiza saga)
While on Earth however he has a very high power level for that time in the series. His power was estimated at about 16-18 thousand. His side kick, Nappa, had a much lesser power level of 5 thousand.

    In the Namek Saga, Vegeta is one of the most focused on characters. One thing that esspecially comes out of this saga is his past. Vegeta was the prince of all Saijins home planet, Vegeta! He was a "slave" for Freiza and his henchmen. When Freiza supposedly destroyed ALL of the Saijins he spared Vegeta. Vegita's father was the immediate cause of the destruction because he tried to kill Frieza. Vegeta never knew the the truth about his home planet or his father till the years after.

    Vegeta's power level at the begining of the Namek saga was estimated around 27 thousand. This was more than enough to dispose of two of Frieza's henchmen. Their names were Dodoria and Cui. Each of teir powers were not enough to dispose of them. Zarbon on the other hand was more than a match for him while he was transformed. The fist time that they fought, Zarbon crushed Vegeta easily.

    Once Vegeta was healed, he was stronger than ever and ready to go back into action. After this his power level was around 45 thousand. By this time he was ready to take on Zarbons power level of 35 thousand. Vegeta disposed of him and continued on his quest for imortality.

    Soon after his battle with Zarbon there was a very new threat to him, the Ginyu Force. He then made his first step toward becoming one of the Z fighters. By joining together with Krillin and Gohan, they were able to hold off the Ginyu Force long enough so that Goku came to the rescue. Once he was healed from his fight with Recoom, his power level was around 135 thousand.

    Later in the Freiza Saga, after he needed healing from his battle with Freiza, his power level came in at over 950 thousand. By then the Freiza Saga was over.In the meantime he was training all through the Garlic Jr. Saga!

    At the begining of the Cell Saga, Vegeta is estimated to have a power level of around 5 million. Somewhere in the midle of that saga his power level increases to about 17 million. After    training in the Hyberbolic time chamber, he able to substantially increase his power. it was around 22 million after that.

 At the begining of the Buu Saga, Vegeta's power level was 49 million and didn't grow. That is if he didn't fuse with Goku to become Gogeta.
